Camille King is a recent widow who is now pregnant with her deceased husband's child.  She is finally coming to grips with his death and becoming excited about her child's impending birth.  For most of her life, Camille has sacrificed and lived trying to please others including putting off her dreams for others.  Now, she is doing what she always dreamed of doing - - teaching music.  But her euphoria is short lived as her world is turned upside down by a call from the fertility clinic where she had undergone a procedure. 

Nicholas Cardoneaux is recovering from a recent divorce and trying to get his life back on track.  He can't fathom what the fertility clinic could possibly want to meet with him about.  While sitting in the waiting room of the clinic, Nicholas is captivated by a beautiful pregnant woman.  An inadvertent mix up at the clinic has thrown the two strangers together.  Now, Camille and Nicholas must struggle to come to some type of understanding as their attraction intensifies.

Beverly Clark creates an intriguing story that breathes life into an old theme of interracial relationships.  She takes a bold step with absolutely remarkable characters that come to life on the page.  Ms. Clark takes the reader on an emotional journey that is sure to be an enjoyable ride.
