MEET THE AUTHOR

BEVERLY JENKINS

Shades Of Romance Magazine: What is your current book?

BEVERLY JENKINS:  My current book is an historical set in Colorado in the 1880's. All of the characters are new ones. Hero's name is Ryder. Heroine's name is Leah.

SORM: What is your favorite scene from the book?

JENKINS:  Favorite scene is when the murderer's identity is revealed.

SORM:  Why did you start writing historicals?

JENKINS:  Started writing historical romances because there were none for us and because I thought there should be.

SORM:  How has your life changed since becoming published?

JENKINS: My life has changed in the sense that it's like the theme song from Cheers. Everybody knows my name. It's a wonderful way to make a living.

SORM:  If one of your books could be made into a movie, which one would you choose and who would you like to cast in it?

JENKINS: I'd pick Topaz as the movie because it's full of action. I'd cast Lorraine Touissant from Any Day Now as Katherine and I'm not sure who could be Dix.

SORM:  What was the best writing advice you received?

JENKINS:  The best advice I've ever received was from my former agent, Vivian Stephens. She told me: "You have to do the work first. Nothing will come to you if you don't do the work first."

SORM:  What keeps you motivated?

JENKINS: The fans keep me motivated when I'm down. I know they're waiting and pulling for me.

SORM:  Give us a sneak peek at your next book?

JENKINS:  Next romance is a young adult from Harper that will be out in Spring 02. It's a historical. The heroine is 16, the hero 18. It's modeled in a way after my third novel, Indigo. The next adult book will be out in Sept 02. This is the book everyone's been waiting for. It's Loreli Winter's book. She's the lady gambler from Topaz and Always and Forever.

SORM:  How can readers get in touch with you?

JENKINS:  Readers can touch base with me either through my PO box or on one of my fan sites on the web.  PO BOX 1893 Belleville MI 48112.

SORM:  Any advice for the aspiring writer?

JENKINS: Words of wisdom: To all aspiring writers: Do the work. Finish the book! Also: You meet the same folks going up that you meet going down, so it pays to remember who you are and where you're from no matter what your goals may be.

SHADES OF ROMANCE WOULD LIKE TO THANKS MS.
JENKINS FOR TAKING THE TIME TO DO THIS INTERVIEW.  WE WISH YOU A HAPPY NEW YEAR.
